As a member of MESTA you receive the following benefits:
1. Participation in the annual MESTA Conference
The MESTA Conference is typically held either late in the summer or early fall. The Conference takes place at a different location each year. The Conference has a Friday field trip and a Saturday session that includes the annual business meeting, and a variety of workshops and lectures. Our Conference also features shopping for classroom samples of rocks, minerals, and fossils at our Free and Inexpensive and Rock Shop areas.
2. The Michigan Earth Scientist
MESTA publishes our journal four times a year. The Michigan Earth Scientist informs you of events and resources available to you both locally and nationally. Classroom activities and Board minutes are regularly included. All members are encouraged to contribute articles to The Michigan Earth Scientist.
3. Awards and Grants
Annual commemorative and monetary awards are presented to outstanding Earth Science teachers and students. Additionally, grant money is available to members who require assistance for both school-related and professional development-related activities.
