MESTA-sponsored awards and mini-grants are made available to Michigan educators for the purpose of expanding Earth Science education or resources.
Outstanding Earth Science Teacher Award This is an annual award presented to an individual who has been nominated by the MESTA membership. The deadline for nominations is August 15. To nominate someone for this award, please fill out the appropriate form by clicking here.
Cranson Field Scholarships These scholarships are given to Earth Science educators throughout the state of Michigan to support their participation in a sponsored and/or recognized upcoming summer field conference. The scholarship is named after Rod Cranson, a founding father in MESTA that organized the first summer field conference. The deadline for applying for this scholarship is March 31. Stoney Grants These awards are given to up to 10 Michigan teachers each year. The awards are given to teachers to support student-centered Earth Science activities. These awards are named in honor of Dr. Harold B. Stonehouse, the original director of MESTA, and a founding member of the National Earth Science Teachers Association (NESTA).
