As a MESTA member you get…

 

* Participation in the MESTA Annual Conference

Held in the fall, the conference consists of a Friday field trip and Saturday workshops and lectures.

 

* The Michigan Earth Scientist

Our newsletter is published four times a year, and informs you of events and resources available both locally and nationally.  Classroom activities and Board minutes are regularly included.

 

* Summer Field Conferences

Educational summer field trips, from a few days to two weeks in length, offer continuing education for teachers.  University credit is optional.

 

* Evenings of Earth Science

Regional drive-in conferences occur in various areas of the state each year.  Meet your colleagues and share classroom activities.

 

* Stalking the Wild Quarry

Saturday mini-trips featuring tours and/or collecting opportunities held in various areas each year.

 

* Representation

MESTA members hold liaison positions with many state and national educational organizations.

 

* Awards

Annual commemorative and monetary awards are presented to outstanding Earth Science teachers and students.

 

* Dues

+ Regular membership is $10/year, or three years for $25.

+ Family memberships are $15/year, or three years for $35.

+ Student membership is $5/year.

+ A one year membership is FREE to those that are student teaching/interning at any time during the current membership year (July 1 to June 30).  Contact our Membership Chair (ekennedy3120@charter.net) for further details.
